Where to Make a Free Wedding Website for the QR Code

You need somewhere to link your QR code to, or it simply won’t work. If a guest scans a QR code and the website link isn’t inputted properly, it won’t go anywhere.

So, let’s take care of that first.

You’ll need to get a wedding website. It’s easy to make one and most places offer free websites.

Here are some places to get a free wedding website with everything you need:

• Minted: You can get a free wedding website with all the bells and whistles, including *password protection.

*I highly encourage password protection to keep your website out of searches and away from prying, public eyes.

• Zola: They offer free wedding websites here with easy to edit templates and more. Plus, you can even send free digital save the dates.

• Appy Couple: Create a unique wedding website here through their one-of-a-kind app. You can even message guests!

Choose one of the above options — or other site of your choosing — and create your website. It can be very simple for now… you will add to it later. All you need to do is sign up for one to get your unique URL / link. This is what you’ll use to create your qr code, which we’ll do… now!

Don’t worry, I’ll take you through it, step-by-step. Here’s how to generate your qr code.

Where to Generate a QR Code

To make a QR code, you’ll use QR Code Generator. I’m familiar with it and it’s the easiest to use based on others I’ve tried in the past. It’s the only one I recommend to my couples.

Step 1: Create and Upload Your QR Code.

This step is two-parted: first, click here to visit the generator site. It opens in a new window so you can pop back here for the other instructions.

You’ll see a screen like this:

Great! Now enter in your URL/link to your wedding website in this space:

Finally, click “Download” and it will save to your computer.

While it’s downloading, you’ll get a pop-up so you know it’s working. Once this screen closes, look in your My Computer or recently downloaded files to see your QR code. It should be there!

Great! Now you have generated the code and saved it to your device.

Now, here’s how to add your qr code to your wedding invitation or anywhere you want to share it.

How To Add a QR Code to a Wedding Invitation

You have the website: check!

You generated a unique QR code: check!

Now it’s time to put the two together.

You can do this one of two ways: print the qr code on your invitation design or add your qr code sticker to your invitation.

→ If you have NOT ordered invites yet, the first method of printing it onto the design is ideal.

→ If you HAVE ordered invites already, don’t worry: you can simply add it to your invitations with qr code stickers.

METHOD 1: Add QR Code to an Invitation Card

You won’t be uploading the QR code directly onto the invitation card itself, but rather onto your response card. You’ll want to choose a response card that has a space for the QR code and wording built into its design. Here are a few examples to give you some visuals.

Need more styles? Browse these specialty cards and choose a design. Next, I’ll show you how to upload your QR code to the invitation.

Upload a QR code to the Invite

For this example, I’m using this RSVP card from here.

This style goes with everything, so it’s perfect if you already have the invitation selected. But if not, you may love this invitation suite: it’s gorgeous!

You’ll head to the listing of your RSVP card, click “personalize”, and edit your information. Then, you’ll upload your QR code into the code section as an image.

Boom, that’s it! Order your RSVP cards.

When they arrive, send them with your wedding invitations. Guests will receive the cards, scan your QR code, and respond to your wedding invitation online. It’s easy!

If you already have your invites, or want to add qr code to your save-the-dates, use stickers instead. You can get QR code stickers from Zazzle by FotografixgalDesigns.

Tips for Success When Using QR Code Wedding RSVP

Having a digital RSVP set up via a qr code on your wedding invite is a nice, efficient, tech-savvy way to encourage guests to respond quickly.

It also serves an a “hub” where your guests can view any important details about your wedding, whether months ahead of time or down to the last few weeks.

But it’s important to have these tips in mind when using qr codes on wedding stationery.

• Include a note instructing guests how to use the code.

With your QR code, whether on invites or save-the-dates, should have a line that reads, “Kindly reply via our wedding website below”. Along with the QR code, include your website address written out. If they can’t access the qr code for some reason, they’ll be able to access your website URL directly.

• Check in on guests who may not be as tech-savvy — or send traditional RSVP cards to them instead.

If you have guests on your list who may not utilize a Smartphone, have access to a computer, or prefer to use snail mail, accommodate them by sending RSVP cards to them directly.
