C mon Gobbler, The cane beds in Poygan, just like the Reefs in Winnebago are hot at certain times of the year and day. NEITHER is a secret to any fisherman who isn't brand new. I have been fishing BOTH since the mid-80s and know many others who also have and do. BTW Medium leeches and pitching jigs work awesome on the cane beds and the same or slip Bobbers on the Bago reefs for Walleye.

Dang people telling where they caught fish. I always caught fish on the reefs on bago and then somebody said something now all kinds of people fish them.

I haven't fished poygan for years. Is the lake too weedy for a seadoo switch pontoon jet boat? Or is it safe enough that I will not suck in any weeds?

People, including me have been fishing those canes for more years than I can remember. Catch a couple and in a few more days a couple more move in. Very popular with the “ run & gun “ crowd.

Nothing is sacred anymore let’s post everything for the world to see and put in zero effort, for the sake of a few clicks and likes. Sad

Sunny 70°

Reeds

Went out and fished 6/15/24 from about 7am-11am, pitched crawlers on a 1/4-1/8th oz jighead around the Cane Beds and finished with 4 keeper walleye (7 in total), a small perch and a nice catfish. The bite was pretty slow but still a fun morning to get on some fish!

Any advice for finding perch on the lake now? I’m thinking west end, bobbers or deadsticks. Any advice??

Twelveguagepump I'd say that's a pretty good rule of thumb. Also another general rule depending on your sized boat is, just be off the main lake by noon. Of course there will be times it's just windy all the time, but generally when the wind gusts get above the 20s in the afternoon it gets rough. Also depends on where u are going. If it's to Winniconnie, or lake Winniconnie buoy line to troll you are somewhat protected by the cane beds when they come up that separate the two lakes. You will get beat up a little bit between them and boom bay but it's doable. Hope this helps. Just be careful if you head to the west end to troll and the winds are forecast to kick up. That's a long wide open stretch for waves to build. Good luck.

I have fished Winnebago in the past and there was a rule of thumb on wind and waves. Anything more than 10 mph (sometimes 7 or 8) from the opposite shore meant that it would be very rough and it made sense to trailer to the other side or sit that day out. I have a 26 foot fishing pontoon that I now have in the water south of Fremont. I would like to spend some time trolling on Poygan as well as fishing for pike and panfish this summer. Since I will be accessing the lake from either the mouth of the Wolf or through Boom Bay, I was wondering if there was a similar rule of thumb on wind on Poygan. It is shallower so I am not sure if the idea matches Bago. If the wind is out of the south, east or west greater than X miles per hour, it might be really rough on Poygan for me. Any suggestions or help would be great! Thanks.
